Holy heatwave batman!

July began with a heatwave and on 1 July I was back at Mill Dam and fished late into the evening in 30 degree heat! There Bream.

By 10 July the temperature had dropped to a comfortable 20 degrees and another evening session proved fruitful at Beechwood and I landed some Rudd and Roach.

A late afternoon session at Longford on 12 July saw me catch a nice variety of species including Roach, Rudd, Bream and a few Carp.

Another warm, sunny, short evening session again at Mill Dam on 15 July using mixed maggots saw me land just one Rudd on a float and I lost what I think was a nice Bream on a ledgered bait.

I’ve really enjoyed my evening sessions recently as the days get longer and on 17 July I was back at Beechwood for another evening session which led me to catch a very impressive ten plus Roach and several Rudd.

Just a few days later on the 21 July back at Mill Dam, similar weather conditions saw me land just three Rudd, I've decided Mill Dam is either feast or famine!

Feeling like a bit of change on 24 July I fished Markeaton Park Lake on bollies which obviously weren’t to the fish’s taste that day as I didn’t get a nibble! Sticking to ledgering but with a change of venue to Springwood and swapping the bollies for luncheon meat and sweetcorn, I landed three Carp from 2–3lb and after the heatwave lasting a few days at the beginning of the month the temperature stayed a steady 20 degrees.
