First fish in months
I was back at Allestree lake at the beginning of the month. This time with a pair of 10' ledger rods and a pair of Abu Cardinal reels, a 157 and a 654GT. It was a short, late afternoon/early evening session as I'm now working from home and although I didn't get a bite it was good to do some ledger fishing again. I fished one rod to an island and although I saw fish in the area they just weren't interested in my bait.
The next few sessions this month were on the Trent & Mersey canal at Stenson Bubble, a few miles from my home. The first session was on a very hot day, above the lock and didn't produce any fish, not just for me, but for the three other anglers along the same stretch. It was the most people fishing a canal I'd seen in a very long time!
My next visit to Stenson Bubble was below the lock on a very windy, cloudy June day. I could see fish topping as I arrived and set up and with just red maggots float fished on a size 14 hook, I had a great session landing plenty of Roach, Skimmer Bream, Perch and even a small Chub.
