First Time On The Cut In A While

I was back at Allestree Lake at the beginning of the month. This time with a pair of 10' leger rods and a pair of Abu Cardinal reels, a 157 and a 654GT.

It was a short session, late in the afternoon and early evening, as I'm now working from home, and although I didn't get a bite, it was good to do some legering again. I fished one rod to an island and saw fish in the area; however, they just weren't interested in my bait.

The next few sessions were on the Trent & Mersey canal at Stenson Bubble, a few miles from home. The first was on a very hot day, above the lock and didn't produce any fish, not just for me, but for the three other anglers along the same stretch. It was the most people fishing a canal I'd seen in a very long time.

My next visit to Stenson Bubble was below the lock on a very windy, cloudy June day. I could see fish topping as I set up and float-fished with red maggots on a size 14 hook. I had a great session, landing plenty of Roach, Skimmers, Perch and a small Chub.
