Here I’m fishing at Derwent Valley Fishery on Woodrow’s Pond, with a 10’ Army & Navy rod with a Mitchell 300 on a tiger nut boilie, and a 10’ R Chapman MkIV 550 Carp rod with a Mitchell 410 with a sweetcorn hook bait, both on the bottom, although I went on to the float with the MkIV rod later. While fishing, I listened to a cricket match from the 1980s and read an Angling Times from November 1985, which they were giving away with other old angling magazines at my local tackle shop; a very quiet and peaceful afternoon.
I’m back on the cut in this video, at Findern, just south of Derby. A perfect, warm, sunny day in early August, float-fishing maggots with a whole cane rod and Mitchell 206S reel.
I went back to the canal, this time to Stenson Bubble, for my next session, float-fishing below the lock with a whole cane rod and Ambidex No. 1.
Using sweetcorn and bread for bait, I cast in different spots and at different depths, but didn't even get a nibble.
I’m back on the cut in this video, again at Findern. I started near the entrance to Mercia Marina and moved a few times downstream to avoid the snags.
It was a warm, late-August day float-fishing dead reds with a Woolworth’s Winfield Young Angler 56 rod and Galion 13R reel.
